Barcelona to Host Inaugural Game at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in La Liga over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans can be present under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a public practice inside the stadium on 7 November. The club said they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht on 9 December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
